Last Minute Holiday Ideas Blog Hop

Last Minute Holiday Ideas Blog Hop

Here's a fun fact about me. I'm really good about saying yes to blog things and then flaking.  (Okay, let's be honest. I'm just a flake.)

Karah from The Space Between (who is letting me move in with her down in Key West) and Jessica from Decor Adventures asked if I would be interested in joining them for a blog hop that involved finding something around your house and turning it into a holiday item.  I was all like "OF COURSE! PICK ME!"  And then I forgot about it until like 2 days ago.

Luckily my craft room is currently auditioning for an episode of hoarders.  I dug around until I found the holy grail.  A pair of women's shorts 10 sizes too large for me that I picked up at a thrift store in October.  Why does one buy a pair of shorts 10 sizes too large?  Too make room for holiday food.  Duh.

Dare to Give Handmade: Flannel Scarf + Stovetop Potpourri Tutorial

Dare to Give Handmade: Flannel Scarf + Stovetop Potpourri Tutorial

This week's Dare to DIY challenge was to "dare to give handmade."  This challenge is always one of my favorites.  I ran a little short on time (story of my life lately) but I'm still happy with my finished projects.

I really wanted to make something with supplies I had on hand. (Mainly because I was short on time and didn't want to leave the house.  See a theme here?)  After some pondering, I decided on a flannel scarf and stovetop potpourri.

Dare to Entertain Features + Sneak Peek!

Dare to Entertain Features + Sneak Peek!

Thanks to everyone that joined Monday's Dare to Entertain party.  There we lots of great projects this week.  I'm sharing three of my favorites.  Rachel {Maybe Matilda}, Kim {NewlyWoodwards} and Katja {Shift Ctrl Art} are sharing some of their favorites as well!

First up we have the ever crafty Amber from Wills Casa.  These hand stitched napkins are simple yet elegant. They are festive without being over the top.  A nice pairing to any table setting.  (I act like I know what I'm talking about.)  They're pretty, ok?  Also, I shall steal this tablecloth when I visit her someday.  (Invitation's still open, right?)

Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins

Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins

This December is starting off to be a cotton headed ninny muggins.  I caught a nasty stomach bug followed by a cold.  I also haven't watched Elf yet.  Horribly lame.  The beginning of December never fails to take me down.  Don't worry.  It's not as horrible as it may seem.  Because Gilmore Girls on Netflix. And the world's cutest nurse.

I have lots of holiday goodness to share once I can remove myself from the couch to photograph.  Until then, let's revisit posts of holiday past.  Maybe you missed something that will rock your holiday world.  (Like this sangria that is extra popular with the Pinterest folks this year.)

Christmas Traditions Blog Tour/Annual Card Photo

Christmas Traditions Blog Tour/Annual Card Photo

Happy Tuesday!  Who's ready for a fun holiday blog hop!  Rachel from Like a Saturday put together a holiday traditions blog hop.  25 lovely bloggers will be sharing their favorite traditions.  I've already acquired a few ideas for the future and it's only the second day!  {If you're stopping by from Life. Love. Larson., welcome!}

So what's my favorite tradition?  I had to think hard.  I'm not much of a traditions person.  My constant need for change hinders carrying things on for years and years.  I only have a couple of ornaments.  We don't really DO anything like hunt for a tree or make snow angels every year on December 13th.  We do put up a tree every year but I can write approximately two sentences about that.  "Each year we put up our 12 foot Christmas tree.  We then yell a lot as we string the lights and stab ourselves with ornament hooks."

Dare to DIY: Entertain Link Up {Gingerbread Place Card}

Did you all enjoy the first round of the holidays?  Nate, Ike and I enjoyed spending time with family. We did some cooking, baking, shopping, sleeping, relaxing and unplugging.  All reasons why Nate and I love Thanksgiving. Ike, however, needs to learn to pace himself a little better.  He was pretty worn out by Saturday.  Excellent start to the holiday season!

Today I am excited to host the Dare to Entertain portion of the Dare to DIY series!

Dare to DIY: Be Thankful {Crazy Thankful Sign}

Dare to DIY: Be Thankful {Crazy Thankful Sign}

Happy Monday!  I'm usually not uber happy about Mondays but today is especially fun beings it's the start of Dare to DIY 2014

This week's dare was to be thankful.  I recently saw this sign at the Magnolia Market.  I'm slightly obsessed with the show Fixer Upper and Joanna's style. Beings imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I decided to make a knock off sign.  I'm crazy excited with how it turned out.
