Dare to DIY: Entertain Link Up {Gingerbread Place Card}
/Did you all enjoy the first round of the holidays? Nate, Ike and I enjoyed spending time with family. We did some cooking, baking, shopping, sleeping, relaxing and unplugging. All reasons why Nate and I love Thanksgiving. Ike, however, needs to learn to pace himself a little better. He was pretty worn out by Saturday. Excellent start to the holiday season!
Today I am excited to host the Dare to Entertain portion of the Dare to DIY series!
Entertaining isn't my strong suit. I think it's because entertaining well involves planning ahead. And being social. Skill sets that I have not yet acquired in my adult life. The Dare to DIY challenge is to stretch your noggin and do some creating during the holidays. My noggin decided on these gingerbread placecard holders.
I invited Nate and Ike to my imaginary party. Ike requested waffles and ham (his favorites).
I think these placecards would also be a great project for kids to tackle. I mean, mine sort of looks like a 5 year old painted it but in a charming way.
I picked up some cardboard gingerbread men at Hobby Lobby. I gave them a quick coat of brown paint. I then used puff paint for the "icing" and added a few dots of red and green for buttons.
I stamped some tags I had on hand and tied them with some baker's twine.
You could also use real gingerbread men. Sometimes it's best to have no baking required. These would also store nicely for years to come.
Now it's time to blog party! I can't wait to check out all of your amazing entertaining projects! I'm assuming they are going to be as awesome as my lovely co-hosts. Kim {NewlyWoodwards} whipped up a festive truffle placecard holder. Katja {Shift Ctrl Art} has a beautiful winter wonderland centerpiece. Rachel {Maybe Matilda}, a fellow hermit, has some adorable party favor boxes.
Please remember that this a "party" not a dump and run. Please link back to one of the hosts and visit the other great projects, comment and spread the holiday blog love. Party on, Wayne!
