Chicago Weekend

Chicago Weekend

Everyone's favorite question for me lately is "How's the nursery coming?"  The answer is "It's not.  It looks the same as we last left it on the blog."  Why?  BECAUSE WE'RE NEVER HOME.  Last week, however, we did manage to find day care AND a pediatrician.  SO BACK UP OFF US.  The nursery is on the to-do list the next few weekends.  Of which we are mostly home.  Mostly.

The weekend before last we went to Chicago with my parents.  My dad had free Cubs tickets and we're always looking for an excuse to head to the Windy City.

Vacation Life

Vacation Life

It's funny how fast time goes on vacation.  Sort of rude too.

Nate and I are thoroughly enjoying our time here in Sanibel.  The weather could get it's act together but it is still better than Iowa's so we won't complain.  I mean, it's 37 back home right now and 74 here.  Why don't we live in Florida?

I had planned to blog more but we've taken most of our photos with the DSLR.  Nate likes to shoot them in fancy photographer mode (RAW) and the laptop we brought doesn't have any fancy photo editing software.  #bloggerfail

Here's what we've been up to according to fancy phone photos.  So basically a lot of Instagram food photos.

Maui Part Dos

Maui Part Dos

Happy Monday!  Hope the weekend was a good one.  We had an fantastic garage sale followed by some even better thrifting and then furniture building.  Excellent weekend!

An excellent weekend certainly does help adjusting back to non-vacation life a little easier.  Let's finish up our Maui photos so my mom doesn't yell at me for not sharing them.  I aim to please.  Or something.

We arrived in Maui on Wednesday afternoon.  By the time we got to our condo it was around 5:30 PM.  Also known as 10:30PM Iowa time.  We ate supper in the condo and both went to bed at 7:00PM.  We woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 3:00 AM ready to head to the Haleakala Crater.  We debated doing sunrise at the crater. I read that it was cold and windy and obviously an early start to the day.  We were looking to get away from cold and windy after the longest winter ever.  It was also supposed to be the most amazing sunrise of people's lives.  We decided to suck it up and do it.

Maui Part One: Road to Hana

Maui Part One: Road to Hana

Aloha again! Beings Nate and I spent the last week and a half exploring Maui, we have zero projects to share.  But who doesn't want to see other people's vacation photos? I personally love vacation photos.

Nate and I explored almost the entire island of Maui.  We passed on a couple of stretches of road that would void our rental car agreement.  Pansies.

One of our days was spent traveling the Road to Hana. The drive is popular in Maui because there is so much to see and do. The trip is only about 50 miles but it's on a narrow two lane road with lots of one lane bridges.  I almost forgot the estimated 600 turns in the road.  The reviews made us think this road was sketchy and that I would be barfing my motion-sick little brains out.  I popped a Bonine and we hit the road with Nate behind the wheel.
