The Home Depot Lamps & Lighting DIY Workshop

Thanks to The Home Depot for sponsoring today's post and keeping us busy with fun projects.

Before things get all wild and crazy in our living room this weekend, I wanted to let you all know about an exciting opportunity for us.

Nate will be hosting a Lamps and Lighting DIY Workshop at the The Home Depot in West Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, July 12 from 10:00am - 11:30am.  You can register for the workshop on-line here!  (I will be attending a blog conference in Atlanta and won't be able to make it. Tragically sad.  We all know that Nate is the one with the skills anyways.  I'm just the humor and good looks.)

The Home Depot offers free workshops for do-it-yourselfers of all ages and experience levels. These Do-It-Yourself Workshops are great for anyone who wants to learn how to take on more of their home projects and upgrades.  The workshops cover topics ranging from how to tile surfaces to gardening and deck staining, including unique, functional projects for both inside and outside your home.

The Home Depot partnered with Instructables.com on a Lamps and Lighting contest to find inspiration for lighting projects directly from consumers and makers.  The winning project was based on the following criteria; clarity, ingenuity, creativity, quality of presentation, and execution of the Instructable.  I'm totally loving the winning project, a reclaimed wood lamp with himmeli shade.

Nate and I will be creating our own version of the Instructables winner’s project and Nate will be sharing it at the Workshop.  (We'll also be sharing our tutorial here in a couple of weeks!)  Making our own lamp has been on my list of super awesome things to do but we have never gotten around to it.  I can't wait to get started!

Who's going to make one with us?  Who's going to join Nate in Des Moines. If only he could bring Ike!  Don't forget to sign up here!
