Old Wives' Tales and Gender Prediction

Old Wives' Tales and Gender Prediction

So I'm a total sucker for Old Wives' tales and other superstitious things.  You better believe I'm all over the gender prediction tales for this pregnancy.  I initially needed to know RIGHT NOW what we are having.  And then I became all cool with not knowing and even questioned finding out!  We've weighed the pros and cons and we've decided we are going to find out.  I'll share the results on Monday if baby cooperates.  In the mean time, let's rely on the super reliable Old Wives' tales.

This stuff fascinates me. I mean, where does some of this stuff come from?  I am leaving out some of the more popular ones that include urinating on Draino or keeping pee soaked cabbage in your fridge over night.  Because gross.  And dangerous.

Grown-Up Stuff Like Rug Pads

Grown-Up Stuff Like Rug Pads

I always thought at age 33 I would be a totally responsible grown-up. I would do grown-up things like have a job and a clean house.  I actually handle those parts of grown-up life pretty darn well.  It's things that I had never thought of that get me.  Things like buying athletic socks and windshield washer fluid.  No one does that stuff for you.  It's so weird.

Grown-up house needs always surprise me too.  My early 20-something self had no clue things like air filters needed changed or that a rug pad could rock your world.

Vacation Life

Vacation Life

It's funny how fast time goes on vacation.  Sort of rude too.

Nate and I are thoroughly enjoying our time here in Sanibel.  The weather could get it's act together but it is still better than Iowa's so we won't complain.  I mean, it's 37 back home right now and 74 here.  Why don't we live in Florida?

I had planned to blog more but we've taken most of our photos with the DSLR.  Nate likes to shoot them in fancy photographer mode (RAW) and the laptop we brought doesn't have any fancy photo editing software.  #bloggerfail

Here's what we've been up to according to fancy phone photos.  So basically a lot of Instagram food photos.

Friday Favorites {Travel Edition}

Friday Favorites {Travel Edition}

Happy Friday!  Who's pumped for the weekend?  I have a busy Saturday but I'm looking forward to doing a little crafting, reading and quilting on Sunday.  Or napping.  Napping is always good.

On Wednesday I had the opportunity to head to Atlanta to spend some time at The Home Depot headquarters.  It was a quick trip.  I left at 7pm (after a 2 hour flighty delay) on Tuesday night and was back home by 10:30 yesterday morning.  I was able to meet the other DIY Influencers who will be hosting DIY and DIH Workshops in 2015. It's always fun meeting other bloggers.  It's also scary.  I'm a total introvert and this is way beyond my normal comfort level.  I fake it the best I can.  Luckily this entire group is fantastic and I had a fabulous time.  I'm glad I didn't chicken out.

How to Build a Vertical Planter {The Home Depot DIY Workshop}

How to Build a Vertical Planter {The Home Depot DIY Workshop}

*Today's post is brought to you by The Home Depot*

Last week I mentioned that we were teaming up with The Home Depot to co-host a few workshops in 2015.  Our first workshop is this coming Saturday and we will be building a vertical planter.  (Sign up for the free workshop at your local The Home Depot right here!)

To prepare for the workshop we needed to construct a vertical planter of our own.  The inspiration project was built next to a fence.  We aren't allowed fences in our neighborhood so we needed to get creative.  We decided on this vertical plant wall on our back patio.

The Home Depot April DIY Workshop- Save the Date

The Home Depot April DIY Workshop- Save the Date

This week is full of big news!  In addition to working on a human, Nate and I are also partnering with The Home Depot for 2015.  We will be working with The Home Depot to host four DIY Workshops during the year.  The planned projects are quite fun.  (Surprisingly this is not an April Fools' Day joke.  I'm just as shocked as you are.  Does anyone else have trust issues on April 1st?)
