Mindful Gray Progress

Mindful Gray Progress

Happy Monday!  How  was the weekend?  We mixed ours with half work, half rest.  We're still recovering from painting the past weekend.  Nate and I are both learning that getting old is hard.  Can't move.  So sore.

Our house is a bit messy right now.  It's making me all twitchy.  Ike is angry that his love seat is not near the window.  There is a 14 foot ladder in our living room.  The living room chair is in the dining room.  But the new wall color is totally worth it!

Cranberry Sangria

Cranberry Sangria

I recently conducted a high tech research experiment on Decor and the Dog readers.  I have concluded that you all like booze and sugar posts.  And sometimes DIY stuff.  Because I am a people pleaser, today's post is about sugary booze.  Wait, a DIY sugary booze drink.  Bam.  Crowd goes wild.

My brother and his girlfriend helped us paint last weekend.  (I'll share photos on Monday.  Pinky swear.)  They also brought me wine from a winery back home along with a new sangria recipe.

The Home Depot Lamps & Lighting DIY Workshop

The Home Depot Lamps & Lighting DIY Workshop

Before things get all wild and crazy in our living room this weekend, I wanted to let you all know about an exciting opportunity for us.

Nate will be hosting a Lamps and Lighting DIY Workshop at the The Home Depot in West Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, July 12 from 10:00am - 11:30am.  You can register for the workshop on-line here!  (I will be attending a blog conference in Atlanta and won't be able to make it. Tragically sad.  We all know that Nate is the one with the skills anyways.  I'm just the humor and good looks.)

Whiskey Slush

Whiskey Slush

How does one with borderline Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder deal with an upcoming living room renovation and the Summer heat?  They drink.  Like any responsible grown-up does.

I kid.  Sort of.  There has to be some perks to being an adult right.  Bills and booze.  Again, I kid.  Sort of. The thought of having our living room torn apart for a month or so is wigging me out.  I'll deal. I know it will be worth it.  But chaos makes me all twitchy.

Bye Bye Beige

Bye Bye Beige

Ike is concerned.  Both of his parents have gone off the deep end.

If you're new around here.  Let me get you up to speed on how this house works.  I, Michelle, come up with approximately 1 million crazy ideas.  My husband, Nate, keeps things in line by squashing 89% of my ideas.  You'd think this would be a bad thing but my mind is constantly racing.  Paint this.  Rip down that.  Build this.  There needs to be a check and balance.

Diggin' It

Diggin' It

Oh, Friday.  I'm so glad you're finally here.  It's been an extra long work week for us.

Nate, Ike and I are also going to have a pretty low key weekend.  We're going to lounge, maybe hit up the Farmer's Market, hike and eat some tasty food.  We're resting up to start a big living room makeover.  Of which we are pumped and terrified for.  More details coming to a blog near you soon.

I thought I'd occasionally bring back the "diggin' it" series.  I'm pretty good with follow through so we'll just say it's back.... for today.  (Go team!)

DIY Chalkboard Vase Tutorial

DIY Chalkboard Vase Tutorial

One Sunday I was reading the Home and Garden section of our local newspaper.  I usually learn about trends from two years ago that are just now catching on in Iowa.  It's super informative.  (Thank goodness for the interwebs.)

A few weeks ago I did see a vase that caught my eye.   A wooden chalkboard vase.  Why didn't I think of that?  I found the product on uncommon goods for $40.  I couldn't believe the price and knew I could make it for a lot less.

DIY Industrial Shelving Tutorial/ BLACK+DECKER Drill Giveaway

DIY Industrial Shelving Tutorial/ BLACK+DECKER Drill Giveaway

Happy Monday!  I'm starting a petition to extend Summer weekends.  Who's signing?

Today's post is exciting.  A tutorial AND a giveaway for a BLACK+DECKER Autosense drill.  Oooo.

Our weather was actually kind of glum here in ol' Iowa this weekend.  The downer weather gave us time to tackle a project in our office.  Once we added our card catalog cabinet to the office, my recent art purchase didn't make sense.  But industrial shelving totally did.  Nate and Ike agreed.
