Instagram Display From Old Crib Spring

It’s no secret that I’m addicted to Instagram.  (Feel free to follow decorandthedog for many pictures of Ike, snow and the food I eat.)

Most people ponder the meaning of life.  I have been pondering a way to display some of my 835 Instagram photos.  I’m deep.

The answer came to me while thrifting with two of my favorite people, Cindy and Kim, this past week-end.  I spotted an old crib frame and I knew that it needed to be mine. It was so meant to be that I waited for a good 10 minutes for the owner of the shop to return to accept my money.  Only in Iowa.

This project is super easy.  The hard part is locating an old crib spring.  You could easily use a new one as well.  I had pondered painting this one but I’m a sucker for the rustic look.  It works perfectly above my craft room sewing table. I like this so much I wish I had a place for it in our main living area.

I used an app called Printicular that allowed me to print my photos at Walgreens.  There are many other on-line sources for printing. I have zero patience and wanted my photos fast.  The photos were ready in an hour by using the app.  (Use coupon code PARTNER25 for 25% off.  This isn’t a sponsored post.  I just like the app.)  I thought the photo quality was great.  I’ll definitely use Printicular again. 

I purchased some small clothespins from Hobby Lobby to use to attach the photos to the bedframe.  I love that this display allows me to easily switch out the photos.  Something about me liking to change decor a lot.  I might paint the clothespins someday.  Call me maybe.

Nate helped me hang from the wall with some L-brackets.  He found it helpful to drill a small hole to the top of the frame.  He placed a screw through the hole to attach the L-bracket.  This helps to securely anchor the spring to the wall.  Safety is always important.  Especially when I will be changing pictures often.

The display makes me so happy.  It’s such a great way to display many great memories.  I have photos of big trips to Costa Rica and the Grand Canyon.  There are photos of of friends and family.  And there are more than plenty photos of the Ike man.

One step closer to finally finishing my silly craft room!

Work Your Wardrobe

Today I have a public service announcement for you. 

Use caution when meeting people from the internet. 

Terrifying things could happen.  You could be mugged.  You could be murdered.  You could also be suckered into modeling for this internet person’s new fashion blog.

Like the time Kim (NewlyWoodwards) started Work Your Wardrobe.  Work Your Wardrobe is a fashion blog for the working woman.

Today she frightened yours truly into posing for said blog.

All joking aside, Work Your Wardrobe is a great resource for affordable outfit inspiration.  Kim started this website for:

• The woman who wants to look put together every day at work but refuses to pay $180 for a blouse.
• The woman who prefers classic pieces to overly-trendy.
• The woman who wants to look young, but is a bit out of the realm of the juniors section.
• The woman who works to live. Not the other way around.

Work Your Wardrobe has many contributors (aka other bloggers she frightened into modeling).  It’s a fun way to see a different side of many of your favorite DIY bloggers! The blog is new but I am really enjoying the different styles represented on the blog.

Edge Painted Chair

Things you should know about me:

1. I can’t rollerskate.

2. I like butter on chocolate Pop-Tarts. 

3. I’m a chicken when it comes to decorating.

Remember these chairs I picked up while doing some birthday thrifting?

I really wasn’t appalled by their honey oak appearance.  I was just appalled by it in my craft room.  My first reaction was to paint them white.  Many of you suggested coral.  I like coral. But white is safe. Coral is brave.  And colorful.  And scary.  (See #3 above.)

So in true Michelle fashion, I painted the chairs white.  And they were boring.

I guess even chicken girl needs some color every now and then. But not too much color.  That’s frightening. So I comprised.

I painted the edges coral (Sherwin Williams Dishy Coral like my button).

Whoa, Right?  So. Much. Color.  I’m wild.

I was inspired by those doors with only the edges painted.  I’m totally too chicken to paint a door edge but a chair edge I can handle.

Just the right amount of color for this decorating hen.

Now I need to get to work on some art for above that sewing table!  I might add a little something something to the back of those chairs one of these days.  I just need to gather my courage to do so.
