Curvy Coffee Table
/I was going to have the post title be "NEW ARRIVAL" but figured that was a jerk move with the whole baby on the way thing. No baby yet but we do have a brain child of Nate and I's to share with you today.
Do you remember when we shared our plans for a coffee table with some awesome curvy legs? Oh, you don't remember all the way back to March? Weird. We've had these beautiful legs from Osborne Wood Products, Inc sitting in our garage since then. They kept staring longingly at us just waiting to find a home. Nate has been working on the coffee table on and off for a few weeks and we finally got it moved into the living room last weekend. And we're in love.
Once the table was built we struggled with the finish. Paint? Stain? Light? Dark? Two-toned? I decided to ask for advice from some trusted blog buddies. Nate and I both immediately liked Cassie's suggestion of an antique walnut stain all over.
It's really weird having a coffee table again after not having one for over a year. Weird yet awesome. Except I didn't really remember what pretty stuff to put on a coffee table. Ike suggested his frog to help decorate. He's big into pops of green.
We decided on a curvy cornered top. We thought the curves would work well with the legs. It will also be nice to not have super sharp corners with a small child. And a crazy dog.
He's offended by the crazy comment.
We worked with Osborne Wood Products, Inc to design the legs. We've enjoyed using their products in the past (with our dining table and card catalog cabinet). Being able to design a leg was a fun and interesting experience. We had an original idea in our heads and worked back and forth via e-mail to get the completed design. The legs are available for purchase here. (We don't get any kind of commission or shady blogger stuff. We did, however, receive our legs at no charge.)
We'll share the plans and tutorial for the entire table soon! Like hopefully later this week. If I can stop admiring how cozy our living room is now. Or if don't go into labor. No promises other than soon.
