Whiskey Slush
/How does one with borderline Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder deal with an upcoming living room renovation and the Summer heat? They drink. Like any responsible grown-up does.
I kid. Sort of. There has to be some perks to being an adult right. Bills and booze. Again, I kid. Sort of. The thought of having our living room torn apart for a month or so is wigging me out. I'll deal. I know it will be worth it. But chaos makes me all twitchy.
My co-worker gave me this delicious Summer drink recipe to try and calm my nerves. It's a recipe for a delicious adult beverage that you can keep on hand or serve to a large group. And it's pretty much the most delicious thing I've made in a long while. You could leave out the booze if you are a responsible (or medicated) adult. (It won't stay slushy for long if you do that. Not a total deal breaker.)
Here's what you will need to whip up this lovely Summer beverage.
- 1 large lemonade (~1/2 gallon)
- 2 cups orange juice
- 2 cups ice tea
- 1 1/2-2 cups whiskey
- We used a honey whiskey. It's from a local distillery. Local honey plus local booze. Such hipsters we are.
- 7 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
Bring sugar and water to a boil. Remove from heat. Cool slightly. Add remaining ingredients. Freeze.
Try to not drink the entire container in one sitting. Because you are a responsible adult and this thing is loaded with sugar and booze.
Hipster paper straws are optional.
Any tips for dealing with life in a construction zone? Got a Summer beverage of choice?
