2014 Holiday Home Tour- Kitchen/Dining Room

2014 Holiday Home Tour- Kitchen/Dining Room

Let's continue the holiday home tour in the kitchen.  (Catch our living room tour here!)

I try to keep things simple in here because our kitchen gets a work out this time of year.  Well, usually.  I haven't had a chance to bake yet.  Hopefully next week!  (Or maybe New Year's cookies?)

I always have a poinsettia in our kitchen. Where it sheds it's leaves all over my counters.  Memories.

2014 Holiday Home Tour - Living Room

2014 Holiday Home Tour - Living Room

Today Ike is pumped to show you our home all decked out for the holidays.

Actually I think he's playing guard dog here.  He's heard about some old dude sneaking into houses.  I told him there would be no dog bones under the tree if he caught Santa.  He just looked at me like "Nate brings me my bones. Duh."

We've actually had the house decorated since the weekend before Thanksgiving.  We just hadn't gotten around to taking photos of it.  We've been too busy shopping, wrapping, and enjoying the holidays to bust out the camera.  Until now.  Bring on 1700 photos of our Christmas tree.

Last Minute Holiday Ideas Blog Hop

Last Minute Holiday Ideas Blog Hop

Here's a fun fact about me. I'm really good about saying yes to blog things and then flaking.  (Okay, let's be honest. I'm just a flake.)

Karah from The Space Between (who is letting me move in with her down in Key West) and Jessica from Decor Adventures asked if I would be interested in joining them for a blog hop that involved finding something around your house and turning it into a holiday item.  I was all like "OF COURSE! PICK ME!"  And then I forgot about it until like 2 days ago.

Luckily my craft room is currently auditioning for an episode of hoarders.  I dug around until I found the holy grail.  A pair of women's shorts 10 sizes too large for me that I picked up at a thrift store in October.  Why does one buy a pair of shorts 10 sizes too large?  Too make room for holiday food.  Duh.

Dare to Give Handmade: Flannel Scarf + Stovetop Potpourri Tutorial

Dare to Give Handmade: Flannel Scarf + Stovetop Potpourri Tutorial

This week's Dare to DIY challenge was to "dare to give handmade."  This challenge is always one of my favorites.  I ran a little short on time (story of my life lately) but I'm still happy with my finished projects.

I really wanted to make something with supplies I had on hand. (Mainly because I was short on time and didn't want to leave the house.  See a theme here?)  After some pondering, I decided on a flannel scarf and stovetop potpourri.

Dare to DIY: Entertain Link Up {Gingerbread Place Card}

Did you all enjoy the first round of the holidays?  Nate, Ike and I enjoyed spending time with family. We did some cooking, baking, shopping, sleeping, relaxing and unplugging.  All reasons why Nate and I love Thanksgiving. Ike, however, needs to learn to pace himself a little better.  He was pretty worn out by Saturday.  Excellent start to the holiday season!

Today I am excited to host the Dare to Entertain portion of the Dare to DIY series!

Dare to DIY: Be Thankful {Crazy Thankful Sign}

Dare to DIY: Be Thankful {Crazy Thankful Sign}

Happy Monday!  I'm usually not uber happy about Mondays but today is especially fun beings it's the start of Dare to DIY 2014

This week's dare was to be thankful.  I recently saw this sign at the Magnolia Market.  I'm slightly obsessed with the show Fixer Upper and Joanna's style. Beings imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I decided to make a knock off sign.  I'm crazy excited with how it turned out.

How to Make a Gnome

How to Make a Gnome

Happy Halloween!  It's okay to talk about Christmas now, right?

Okay, so it's like super early.  I get it.  But my brain can't stop thinking about how I'm going to decorate for the holidays this year.  I have lots of projects in mind and I'm trying to start early so I can actually finish them.  So, if I'm thinking about holiday decorations.  Maybe you are too?  If not, just humor me.

I went shopping with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and darling niece last weekend.  We stopped at the HomeGoods in Naperville.  I saw this little gnome there that I loved but wasn't quite in my price range. (I swore I took a photo of it but it must have only been a mental photo or my phone ate it.)  I thought, just maybe, that I could make him myself or find a tutorial on-line.  FYI, there are no good gnome tutorials on-line.  Until today.

4th of July Ideas

Happy Thursday!  Who's ready for a long holiday weekend?  (If you're not in the United States, I apologize.  I will sleep and eat extra for you.  Like a good American.  Super thoughtful, I am.)

Nate, Ike and I have relaxation and fun on the menu.  We will do nothing productive.  It will be amazing.

I thought I'd share a couple of quick last minute Independence day ideas.
