Homemade Dog Biscuits

I swear I haven’t lost my marbles.  Well, I don’t think I have.

I’m now making my dog homemade dog treats.  And then photographing them with Kraft paper and Baker’s twine.

Homemade Dog Biscuits

Ok, fine.  I have lost it.

But look at that cute face.  You’d make him his favorite homemade dog treats as too.  And you’d probably wrap them in Baker’s twine.  Don’t lie.

Wire Fox Terrier

Ike’s aunt made him these dog treats for Christmas.  He’s been begging for the recipe ever since.  I get a little nervous with homemade treats because Ike has a pretty sensitive stomach. He LOVES these treats and tolerates them well.

Homemade Dog Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup Old Fashioned oats
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons applesauce

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, mix together all of the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Place the dough onto a piece of wax paper and then add another sheet on top. Roll the dough out so that it is about a 1/4 –1/2 inch thick. Remove the top layer of wax paper and use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Use a spatula to help remove your shapes to a cookie sheet for baking. Continue reforming and rolling the dough until it is all used. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool and serve.

Homemade Dog Biscuits for a Wire Fox Terrier

He keeps following me around wanting more dog cookies.  I’ve created a monster.

Have I officially lost it?  Do you make your dog treats?

I randomly posted on Saturday about a flower display I made.  I kind of like it so be sure to check it out if you missed it….right here!

Easy Lily Display

I’m beginning to think that Spring may never arrive in Iowa. It was here for a today and then it was gone again.

I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands. I think the easiest way to cheer up a room is to add fresh flowers. I made a trip to a local grocery store and picked up some lilies.

Lilies are such a charming flower. There are many varieties to choose from.  Lilies are easy to find at your local grocery store, garden center or flower shop.

I whipped up this cute little arrangement that I think would make a great gift for Mother’s Day, bridal showers, birthdays, yourself etc. I’m always on the lookout for inexpensive yet meaningful gifts. Lilies for the win!

To make this arrangement, I picked up a planter box and some paint markers.

I picked out a word that I thought would look great on the window box. You could use a monograph, name, special phrase, special date, etc.

I placed the print on top of a piece of carbon paper and traced the word onto the window box.

I then used a paint pen to trace and fill in the letters.

I was pleasantly surprised with the paint pens. They were super easy to use. If you can trace, you can use a paint pen. I do recommend practicing on a piece of scrap wood to get used to the amount of pressure needed. You don’t want to push too hard or the paint will run.

I placed a potted Peace Lily in the center. I then placed cut Stargazer Lilies into a Mason jar on each side. Easy peasy.

There you have it. An easy, inexpensive gift for someone special. Like yourself.

Life Lately

Hey, it’s me.  The world’s worst DIY blogger.

I’d like to make up excuses like being too busy or something.  But I hate when bloggers do that.  It’s called life and I have been pretty awesome at managing my time poorly.  Eh.  I’m over it.  I have some good stuff planned in the next few months.  You just wait and see dear blog readers.

So what have we been up to?  Instagram tells me that…

Ike decided last summer that he was afraid of thunderstorms.  We were hoping that wouldn’t continue this year.  It’s stormed almost every night this week.  We had a nice talk about sleeping through storms.  It didn’t go well.  He’s lucky he’s cute.

It’s been super gloomy all week but it’s not snowing.  And the grass is an amazing shade of green.  I wouldn’t complain except for the fact that it’s 30 outside in April.

Ike has a new best friend.  His name is Fox.  Fox is a trooper.  He no longer has intestines but he still enjoys cooking and snuggling in bed.

I’ve recently become a pretty decent cook.  I don’t know how it happened.  Nate says it has something to do with paying attention to what I’m doing.  I’m still not sure.  My parents were in town this past week-end and I whipped up a delicious Sunday breakfast.

My parents enjoyed the fact that we are still celebrating Christmas.  Don’t rush me.

Next week.  There will be real posts.  I promise.  I think.  That is if I live.  Tomorrow I am running a Zombie Run.  I have to survive the race without turning into a zombie.  It’s a 5K.  I haven’t ran since October.  I’m sure I’ll be fine. CARDIO!!!

Big week-end plans?  Who’s pumped for the end of tax season next week???
