Last Minute Holiday Ideas Blog Hop

Here's a fun fact about me. I'm really good about saying yes to blog things and then flaking.  (Okay, let's be honest. I'm just a flake.)

Karah from The Space Between (who is letting me move in with her down in Key West) and Jessica from Decor Adventures asked if I would be interested in joining them for a blog hop that involved finding something around your house and turning it into a holiday item.  I was all like "OF COURSE! PICK ME!"  And then I forgot about it until like 2 days ago.

Luckily my craft room is currently auditioning for an episode of hoarders.  I dug around until I found the holy grail.  A pair of women's shorts 10 sizes too large for me that I picked up at a thrift store in October.  Why does one buy a pair of shorts 10 sizes too large?  Too make room for holiday food.  Duh.

Or to make a pillow for your living room.  Because your dog is sad that his new chair isn't comfy enough because it is missing said pillow.

I found these shorts at a local thrift store. I initially hoped it was a skirt in my size because FLANNEL!  But they turned out to be shorts not in my size. Sad trombone. That always happens to me. I grab the perfect piece off the rack only to find it 10 sizes too small or big. It's cool.  I bought these shorts anyways.

I kept pondering what I could do with them and then I decided on a pillow.

I chopped the shorts apart until I had material to make two pillows.  I just sewed along the edges and shoved some pillow fluff in them (maybe could have used a little more. eh.)  The pillows are small but Ike doesn't seem to mind.

The colors are perfect for this year's holiday decor.  (Which I will show you all next week!)

Ike's off to Ciburbanity to continue the inexpensive holiday fun!

Any last minute holiday ideas you're working on?  What's the strangest thing you've bought at the thrift store recently?
